The tour starts from the port of Argostoli and follows the Fanari coastal road, which is billed as the scenic between Lassi and Argostoli. After a short photo stop at the Memorial of Acqui Division we visit the most famous attraction in this road, the Katavothres water wheels where sea water flows into sink holes and disappears. Just off the famous Katavothres is the area called Saint Theodore, where we will find the Lighthouse. The “Divino” winery in Pessada is open for you with guided tours and wine-tasting. The winemaker is particularly interested in producing sweet, semi-sweet and semi-dry wines. This was the first winery to produce sweet White Muscat of Kefalonia. Local products also like oil or vineyard are available. Some of the best views of the island and the neighbouring island of Zante can be experienced from St George’s castle, a Venetian fortress dating back to the 16th century, located at the traditional village of Kastro. Our trip continues back to Argostoli and the famous Koutavos Lagoon, which lies at the head of Argostoli Bay and is an attractive nature reserve for wildlife that includes the Caretta Caretta turtle and various waterfowl. Through the coastal road, passing in front of De Bosset Bridge, we return back to the ship.
