DESCRIPTION
Kefalonia is blessed with an exceptional natural environment with singular morphology and intense contrasts. Commence a scenic drive in one of the most beautiful island of Greece and enjoy a unique natural exploration. Following the beautiful sea side road of Fanari enjoy a photo stop at the Lighthouse and at the location of Katavothres and the sink holes, a geological phenomenon first observed in 1835. Seawater enters the cracks close to the shore and following a long path underground flowing into the lake of Melissani & Karamomilos area. Driving through the mountain of Aenos you will meet Sami Town with its vast harbor and lovely buildings and after a short stop you will continue to Karavomilos , a small pretty fishing village with a long, narrow single beach and lovely views across to Ithaca. Karavomilos is named after the local water mill, where there is a small circular lake. Surrounded by lush vegetation the area attracts plenty of wild life including ducks, swans and herons. After a few minutes' drive from Karavomilos you will meet and visit another beautiful location surrounded by sea and fir tree cloaked mountains, Agia Efimia - a very pretty fishing village with a number of traditional Greek waterside cafes, tavernas and a good selection of shops. This charming settlement has a traditional character with the red tiled roof houses spreading around the natural bay. On the way out of Ag.Efimia and before the return back to the port you will have the chance to snap some postcard-worthy photos from the top of the hill of Myrtos Bay, one of the most beautiful beaches in the world for its exotic sceneries and its wild beauty.
