Discover with us in a short time the highlights of this unique island!!Passing through the Mount Ainos you will find and discover the famous monastery of St Gerasimos, the patron saint of Kefalonia and marvel the solid silver casket containing his remains. Next to the Monastery you will visit the Robola Winery and gain insight into the production methods of the famous and rare Robola wine made of a local selection of grapes, which comes in red, white and sweet Muscat. Leaving the winery we will head towards the Drogarati cave that was discovered 300 years ago and opened to the public in 1963.Passing Sami, where Captain Corelli's Mandolin was filmed, we will end up at the Melissani Lake, an underground lake fed by subterranean channels with water running from the opposite side of the island. From there, a small boat rowed by master oarsmen will take you to a tour over the lake. Leaving Melissani we will head to AgiaEfimia Village, a quiet little fishing village situated on the east-coast of Kefalonia Island. Departing from Ag.Efimia and on the way back to the port the spectacular and breathtaking Myrtos beach is waiting for you to capture for yourselves photos you cannot go home without.
PLEASE NOTE:
We recommend that you bring sun cream, a sun hat and bottled water with you, as at times it can get extremely hot. Please wear comfortable footwear for this excursion as it involves some walking on uneven ground.. Vessels at Lake Melissani are 12-man rowboats with rower. Passengers may experience crowds while boarding the boats. Passengers must negotiate a number of steps at the lake and be able to enter and exit the boats without assistance. Visitors to Drogarati Cave must negotiate approximately 150 steep steps carved out of cave rock. The steps can be wet and slippery. Not recommended for passengers with limited mobility and/or who suffer from claustrophobia. The cave is over 200 feet below ground and the temperature is approximately, 64 degrees Fahrenheit.Those wishing to enter the monastery must dress conservatively. Flash photography prohibited.
